Cars that are Difficult to Ship

Vehicle shipping companies do not often reject a vehicle for shipping. If it happens, than the company should be able to tell you what you will have to remove, or modify to correct the issue, and than the vehicle should be viable for shipping. Some vehicles are a good fit for the delivery trucks, and rail freights and others are difficult to transport. The vehicles that are difficult to transport may come with a higher price tag to do so.

Modified vehicles may be difficult to ship if they are lowered, and the ground clearance is less than four inches. It is important that these parts be removed, if they are removable, to prevent damage to the bottom of the vehicle.

Basically a general vehicle type is any vehicle sold through car manufactures that has not been modified regardless of make and model with the exception of some sport cars and large SUV’s.

Some vehicles that might provide additional problems are large trucks and SUVs, these would require an extra fee, as they are oversized. Often, the regulations set the limit at seven feet. This ensures that the vehicle will fit onto the truck without any risk of damage to the top of the vehicle. Often, the trucks that the vehicles are transported on have two levels, and these levels can fit a maximum of a seven foot vehicle. If you are unsure if you vehicle is below seven feet it is a good idea to make sure before obtaining a quote therefore you can consider other options. Vehicles larger than seven feet also pose a problem for trucks traveling on highways, as often clearance is low for some overpasses, and sometimes there are no alternate routes.

Notify the company of any modifications, and on the telephone, or during the initial inspection the auto transport company can discuss any issues that may occur during transport.
