Auto Transport for non-running vehicles
The decision to ship a non-running vehicle varies from shipping company to shipping company. It is at the discretion of the shipping company, although some companies specialize in shipping in non-running vehicles, and will do so at no extra charge to the customer.
Some auto transport companies will decide to ship so long as the vehicle has operating emergency brakes and inflated tires. Most often, the tires are required to roll, and not be ceased in any way for the vehicle to be a candidate for shipping; the car shipping company may refuse service if the vehicle is unable to move in neutral.
There may be extra fees involved in shipping a non-operative vehicle as additional time and effort would be expended to move the vehicle from place to place. It is important to acknowledge this in the shipping contract. This extra fee could range anywhere from $100.00 to almost double the charge of shipping an operative vehicle. As always, it is important to obtain multiple vehicle shipping quotes.
